A “Day in Life” Or Journal
                                                       Qin dynasty

The family I visited lived in Xianyang. They were peasants which had assigned jobs.

This means that their life wasn't easy, very busy, and needed hard work to be

successful. My family worked in assigned jobs of farmers and silk makers, if they were

slow or lazy doing their job they had to go work on the Great Wall. We ate noodles,

rice and some vegetables for dinner. The government in our city had many rules and

harsh punishments: he was very strict he had absolute control. Our clothes were

black, red had square sleeves, had designed clothes shoes and jewelry.

At the beginning of the day we ate breakfast, talked with the family about

problems and other situations. Then we traded some goods with neighbors and got

ready to go to work. It was really hard to wake up in the morning and then go to

work for a couple of hours or until the end of the day sometimes. We were controlled

by the government and had very strict punishments, if we didn't follow the rules. I

don't know how this would be if I lived here.

Afterwards at the middle of the day we were forced to go to work even if we were

tired and didn't want to go. I also learned by watching people work and by working

with them. Almost everything was new to me and I hadn't seen anyone like this from

my country that would work so much and put hard work and effort into working for

their assigned job. Once when we got tired, lazy and stopped working for a couple of

minutes we got sent to go from our work to the Great Wall. It was very scary and

harder to work their instead of doing farming as our assigned jobs.

Finally at the end of the day we came home tired from a difficult day. Then we

talked to some of the family members if they hadn't had gone to sleep. But we were

too tired to do anything most of the time so we went to sleep. I was very worried

about my other family members at home and missed them. The family I lived with this

week was very nice and tried to help me with any problems I had.
